Yes, ‘The Dog’ play complicated music and yes, its darn Funky! playing deep grooves and infectious melodies then flipping the switch, to hear it all in a totally new way.

The music is an invitation to be curious; not only about the songs and their parts amidst the 8 piece double drummer sonic but also about how you listen, how you feel. A balancing act that taunts your curiosity without getting in the way of chilling back and experiencing sweet music arising from seriously deep musicians.

Influences as wide ranging as Miles Davis, Fela-Kuti, Bela Bartok, Ornette Coleman, Gyorgy Ligeti and Thomas Mapfumo.

There studio album ‘Mad Stream’ was described as “Something approaching improvised perfection.” (SMH) Live there is something even more expansive and energetic about this band. The rare blend of odd time danceable grooves and singable melodies is infectious.
