Beautiful melodies, captivating beats, stunning improvisations – Alma’s irresistible music will move listeners to join them in joyful song and dance. Drawing inspiration from Fado and folk tunes of the Iberian Peninsula, and navigating the seas to Cape Verde, Angola and Brazil, Alma will take you on a soulful journey from traditional to modern and original Portuguese song.

This spectacular five-piece ensemble features Sydney’s renowned and stunning songstress and violinist Mandie Vieira alongside fellow Portuguese-Australian Loretta Palmeiro (saxophone/clarinet/flute) and a stellar rhythm section in guitarist Guy Strazz, bassist Steve Elphick and drummer Mike Quigley. Bringing you the sweetest sounds of Portugal and more, come along and let Alma appease your saudades.

Alma Orquestra have been enthusiastically received at all of their concerts since the ensemble’s inception a mere 12 months ago. They have made radio appearances and will also be featuring on Adam Liaw’s Destination Flavour Eurovision on SBS on May 10th.
