Matthew Dennett & Vivien Jeffrey @ Hotel Blue

Matthew Dennett was the first local muso to stroll through the doors at Hotel Blue and ask whether we were interested in having a piano player fiddling with the old ivories. Well, we almost laughed at the time (in what crazy world would a 90+-year-old guesthouse do live music) but allowed Matt to play piano in the lounge any time he felt like it (he sounded a lot better than the children thumping the keys first thing in the morning!). Matt just kept on turning up to our lounge to play a little piano when he was wandering around town and a little while later, Hotel Blue hosted a wedding and the bride and groom requested that we hire a pianist for the reception. Well, Matt was naturally the best candidate. Since then Matt has performed at the Hotel with Brittanie Shipway, Luke Chapman and others, knows all the staff by name and is really part of the hotel family. This week, Matthew has invited the talented Vivien Jeffery up to Katoomba to perform with him and we are REALLY looking forward to it!
