Legendary Australian gypsy jazz fiddle player, raconteur and jazz encyclopedia George Washingmachine is bringing his Quartet to the Blue Mountains to play at the Mountains’ original party palace, The Hydro Majestic Hotel. As one of Australia’s finest exponents of Stéphane Grappelli’s manouche style of violin, George is a great jazz player and singer. He is also an entertainer, actor, comedian, visual artist (and probably more). This won’t be your average night of jazz – this will be something special . . . an intimate night of great music with a gypsy music master!

George the jazz musician has featured in Mic and Jim Conway’s bands and has played all of the major festivals around Australia. George tours regularly in Europe appearing at festivals in France, Switzerland & The UK. In December 2015 George took his group “Feel The Manouche” to Cuba, where they appeared at The Havana International Jazz Festival. This year saw George appearing at The Thredbo Blues Festival, The Tamworth Country Music Festival, The Clarence Jazz Festival in Tasmania, The Thredbo Jazz Festival, Tours of France & Switzerland in June, and a Rhine River Tour from Basel to Amsterdam in August.

George, the actor, and comedian appears with Maestro George Ellis in “The Conductor & The Clown” and in 2015, this show appeared with The Canberra Symphony Orchestra at Llewellyn Hall in Canberra and the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra at The Concourse Theatre in Chatswood. In 2017, Ellis and Washingmachine debuted their new show, “The Maestro & The Magician”. George Washingmachine regularly writes, plays, and acts in Australian television and theatre.

The George Washingmachine Quartet play as part of the ‘Live @ The Boiler House’ series, proudly presented by ‘Music in the Mountains’ and ‘The Hydro Majestic Hotel’. This will be an intimate night of world class music, with stunning views of the Megalong Valley as a backdrop. The casual atmosphere and intimate venue provide you the opportunity to get up and close with these fine musicians.
