In the process of booking musicians, there is this rare breed of ‘jazz cat’ that comes along that hips ‘n’ hops to another beat . . . enter Jimmy Vargas. Jimmy ain’t your standards man – he writes ‘noir’ originals that you would swear came straight out of a Humphry Bogart classic and swings like the backstreets of LA after hours – dark and twisted, with a little bit of danger. Jimmy looks the part as wells – he walks in with a ‘Maltese Falcon’ swagger that makes you think he is on his way to the bar to womanise and drink you out of house and home. Listen to the man and you will hear classic film noir elements infused into his music with elements of tease, horror & Jack Kerouac-style lyrics. The man behind the mask, however, is the poster boy for the ‘Golden Age of Hollywood’ song man and doesn’t just play music – he lives it. As a man that lives and dies by the music, Jimmy plays with only top musicians and will be bringing Tim Bruer & Dave Clayton up the Mountains with him.
